Firstly, Congratulations on those who started playing on public beta today. Without beta key, I'll still have some fun watching youtube videos.

There's always been curious on the amount of opponent information a player can see from game graphics and animations.

Such as the Hydralisk's range/speed upgrade, Zealot's charge.. what upgrades are visible base on the 'look' of an unit?

Also, from a video clip I see stargates morphing in carriers and you can see clearly carries is been made base on the animation. Are there other buildings that can spot which unit is coming out?

Warp gates warp in units, so you can see the general shape of the unit getting warped in (stalker vs zelot). Marines have a shield upgrade which is visible.

Most movement upgrades are apparent if you are familiar with the unit in question. Banelings will actually roll (instead of crawling) when they have their movement upgrade.

Edit: A couple of the ranged zerg units (roaches and hydras) will show a melee attack animation while attacking an enemy in melee range. I don't believe this has any game play effect, but it does look cool.

I'll have to check to see if I notice any other changes like those.

That is awesome man, thanks for all the info! Free of the things see if you can look out for.. hydralisk range upgrade, ling's crack upgrade, colossum's range upgrade, reaper's speed, battlecruiser's weapon choice... – Travis Feb 20 at 2:36
I've only seen BCs with one type of weapon, so I think they took the choice out, but I'll have to double check. 'Ling speed upgrade looks like feathers – tzenes Feb 22 at 18:46
